And the Zip went...Ouch! OOH I clearly remember the day it happened.

My son was just a few days old and as you know, when we are not used to staying up at nights, with the many restrictions, the continous visitors and in that wearing a restrictive lingerie with the milk laden breasts so heavy that it hurts to wear one, so what do we do? We do not wear a lingerie. Also in those days we did not have nursing bras and the regular wear bras were a pain in the......to nurse in. They do not support well and whatever the size it was one uncomfortable piece of lingerie to wear. So the next best option-simple dont wear one, just the zip feeding nighty and freedom (2-do bechare bina sahare :-p) And then it happened-ZIP down and ...OUCH. @#^!#@

Discreet Nursing Gown
It is mighty painful when that happens, we cannot put medicine-it goes into baby's mouth, we cannot not nurse from that side-the breast will hurt more and everytime baby nurses from that side-ooh man it burns. Not only the mom, the zip hurts the baby too and as baby's skin is 3 times thinner than our own, the wound heals but the mark to go takes a very very long time. Also these zips are not meant for such heavy duty use, they break- I am sure you have faced it, I did and since we cannot invest in newer and newer nighties, we just use the same and to close the gaping gap, we use safety pins, which-you guessed it-hurt baby and mother both.

I faced this situation both the times, not that I had not learnt my lesson, but there was no option available and over the years everytime I saw a young mommy with her baby I used to remember those days.

Discreet Nursing Kurta
This experience always stayed with me and when designing the nursing gown

that was the first thing I took care of. No hurful ZIPS, so at Pari's M2B all our nursing wear is available without zips, to take care of the mom's assests and the baby's delicate skin.
Care has also been taken to avoid exposure of mom's body while nursing her baby by providing discreet nursing facility.
Available in all sizes from S-2XL.

Think you are ready to have a baby, I found this amazing article, check it out.

Hey Mommies, see if you can relate to this..
Most broody mothers see having a child as a wonderful gift from God but one blogger has set about putting paid to that ideal.
A candid parent test highlighting the high and lows of motherhood is taking the internet by storm after being reposted on countless mothering blogs.
The Test For Future Parents by author Colin Falconer comprises 14 steps to follow before you have children and was originally printed in his book 'A beginners guide to fatherhood' in 1992 before finding its was on to parenting blogs in the UK, most recently Mamami by Chet, who was sent the parenting test by a friend.

The content below is a general guideline and should work for you. However, if you are still unsure and or need any clarification, please  e-mail me your body size along with your expected date of delivery and the kind of garments you are interested in (E.g., Short Duration, Long Duration, Maternity Only, Nursing Only or Maternity & Nursing) and I personally will guide you to make an informed decision.

Congrats, you are on your way to becoming a Mommy. There are lots of changes happening physically, emotionally and socially. It is a phase where you go through a lot of excitement but also a lot of doubt.
One of the key questions you must have right now is “What do I buy and what do I wear?” as all stores have different sizes for similar products and you end up more confused than ever.
This is where I step in. As all my products are designed based on my own personal experiences during my pregnancies, I completely empathize with what you are going through and will personally guide you through each step.
The product you finally choose needs to be based on the following deciding factors:
1) Term – Short Term or Full Term
First and foremost, you need to decide the tenure/longevity of your garment based on which month of pregnancy you are at.
Short Term:
Select a size 1 size above your body size.
The chosen garment should be such that you are able to wear it post maternity.

Full Term:
Select a garment 1 size above what you would for a short term.
Note: All Pari’s garments are reusable post pregnancy as regular wear/nursing wear (if you select the garment with the nursing feature)

Tip 1: For e.g., if you are in your 4th month, then you need to decide if you want a garment that will work for you for the entire pregnancy period, or you want to change again in the next 2 months. Based on this, the size gets decided.

2) Your Body Size
Now you might ask why the size needs to be calculated on your body size and not your bra size. The answer is....Continue reading at https://www.facebook.com/notes/paris-m2b/know-your-size/10151709405020598

How To Avoid Fading.

Thank you for the appreciation for the salt wash tip. 1 complaint remained constant across all groups in which I posted, is that, despite of salt wash, ladies have not been able to prevent fading. So,

Exercise during pregnancy gives babies' brains a boost

Attention pregnant women: If you want to help your child get into Harvard, lace up those sneakers and exercise!

Hardly a week goes by without science delivering new evidence that exercise boosts the brain. Studies have linked exercise to brain health in senior citizens, middle-aged adults and kids. A trio of researchers from the University of Montreal figured the same might hold true for babies in utero as well.

Tip Of the day--I never get tired of sharing this tip, customers always complain that their cotton clothes be it kurta, saree blouse or salwar runs so much color in the 1st wash that it does not look new. So here is what you do-
'Common salt's amazing use. Soak colored cotton kurtas & saree blouses for 15 minutes to prevent heavy color run. Rinse & dry in shade. Wash in detergent the next time.' Been sharing this tip with my customers for last 18 years  Salt is the most natural color fixer.
Hint-You never run out of common salt at home.
Have some tips to share? Inbox me and I will put it up with your name on Pari's page.

My maternity pant is uncomfortable! Why?

This is a standard complaint from most of the western maternity pants or jeans wearing mom's-to-be.
Couple of pointers to keep in mind while buying maternity pants or jeans.
Maternity Kurti for pants
  • 1st most important point, all pants are comfortable when you are standing, but the problem starts when you sit down(this also applies to non pregnant ladies too). So at the store please ask for a stool or a chair and have a seat. Sit as you would be sitting in your office/home, check for the comfort. If you feel discomfort in the pelvic region, it means you need a bigger size. Discomfort in the pelvic region causes a lot of pain, which will not allow you to be seated and work in office.
  • 2nd, avoid taking snug thigh fitting pants, it should either have stretch or space for movement. Many mom's-to-be put on weight even on their thighs, when this happens, the pants will be uncomfortable and you may not be able to wear them.
  • 3rd, try the pants on with a kurti/top/t-shirt that you are planning to wear to
  • verify if you are comfortable with the bump and hip coverage.
  • 4th, listen to what your body says when you try it, even if you are a wee bit uncomfortable, dont let the sales person push you into buying. You have to pay for it and you have to wear it, maximum wastage of garments is because you are uncomfortable in them.

Why maternity wear?

A heated discussion with a customer a few days back.

"Why should I buy maternity wear, why can I not just make do with some old kurtas, recently when I visited the hospital for my 1st check up, I saw many women wearing normal kurtas. All they had done was wear their salwar very low and they had increased the side slit way up. So as to not expose their body, they had covered it up with a huge big shawl. Looked a bit odd as I could see a lot of their body, but it is only few months, right?'

Yes of course, one can do that and I meet many such customers. But is it worth the discomfort and body exposure? Some salient features of Pari's M2B's maternity wear-
Maternity Wear

  • It does not ride up from the front as the ghera provides with the proper growth space.
  • It does not give an odd look. When a regular wear kurta is worn and sufficient space is not there, it pulls tight from behind and shows the hips very promiently and oddly.
  • Maternity wear, we give in your size while providing subtle growth space.
  • When the maternity wear fits properly, you look nice and when you look nice you feel good about yourself.
  • In a regular wear kurta, to get growth space at the tummy area, you have to sacrifice the fitting at the bust and shoulders droop badly.
  • Resizing is a big issue in regular wear kurtas and even after that they do not fit well. When you are unable to re-use them, that is a waste of your money spent.
  • Pari's maternity wear requires just a minor stitch down and maternity wear turns into normal wear.
  • We have maternity wear with nursing option also.
  • We have a wide size range too, from S-2XL.
  • Cottons made from hand-block printed fabrics using vegetable dyes.
And
  • We assist you into making an informed decision.
After the explanation, she shopped as per her need and walked home a satisfied happy mommy-to-be.

Why wear a nursing bra at all, or for that matter during nursing days, why wear a bra at all?

These were my thoughts exactly, when I was nursing. It hurts to wear a bra and so much discomfort it causes especially when the leaked milk dries up inside. During my nursing days, we did not have breast pads to soak up the excess flow, so we had to bear with it.

So I learnt the hard way :-(, what happens when you dont wear a bra or a nursing bra during feeding .

First of all, please do not wear a regular bra for nursing at all, kindly invest in a nursing bra. A, please read this link https://www.facebook.com/notes/paris-m2b/why-wear-a-nursing-bra-at-all/10151685534355598

So mommies, please take care of your assests very well and read the post on "how to select a nursing bra" before shopping.https://www.facebook.com/notes/paris-m2b/how-to-select-a-nursing-bra/10151640387870598

About ParisM2B

In the year 1994, a young, frail woman with a broken hand single-handedly (literally) increased the sales of a then famous sports equipment company, nearly 5 fold at an exhibition held by her husband's advertising company. All she'd gone there for, was to spend time with her husband. Just in a few hours, lo, a Citibanker had found a new love - sales. Rejecting an offer from the baffled sports equipment company, this banker left her comfortable job with Citi. Then, with her ever supportive husband and her two young children, she moved to Bangalore-the then newly formed business city. With no money in their pockets, in an unknown city, a need to be their own bosses, and a talent in sales that had materialised from nowhere, this couple started a small 100 sq. ft store in Indiranagar called Pari's Haute Couture.
